Hackvil is a modified version of Anvil V1.0.3b4 intended to
make editing of Physics and Shapes a little easier than with
Anvil and with more useful and more accurate help. Changes are
a re-laying of the interface (in particular, scrolling lists
in the shapes editor are now a decent length and quicker to work
with) and improved built-in help. The Shapes editor window is
resizeable too. Sound editing is disabled, folks are encouraged
to use Sound Editor or Wail (which are better anyway). Efficiency
stuff, though the better help should be of use to anyone. No
actual bug fixes, of course.
I would actually suggest you keep the floating Help window
open when using Hakvil, at least until you're familiar with its
new contents. The built-in Help also flags up particular areas
of Anvil where there are known problems (also marked "(!)"
in the Editing window) and where you should refer to these notes
for more guidance. These notes are intended as an addendum to
the information in the built-in Help as well as being a standalone
guide in their own right. Please note, however, that they no
longer contain any information specific to other versions of
Anvil for simplicity I'm only covering Hakvil and Hakvil-related
techniques. i.e. I'm writing about the techniques I use for editing;
if you've got other methods that work for you then that's fine,
but I'm not covering them here. Likewise, I've covered only those
bugs and workarounds that apply to these tools and techniques
there are plenty other problems to be had using other methods
too, but you're on your own there.
