Unique Terminals |
[Editor's Note: In the map tutorial you have been asked to walk up to a construction worker sprite and hit your action key. (Don't try this in real life) - gls 12/16/2000] The character you walked up to is a sprite taken from my new Bob. I placed him here as a scenery item, since I haven't completed his sequences. Also, I didn't want to add his shape collection in the patch files for the scenario, just to keep the file size down. Throughout this tutorial you've been activating terminals that aren't as they seem. The terminal texture was just a regular wall texture, and the actual terminal texture was an invisible (100% blue) texture placed on a line directly in front of it. I built my texture set as such for two reasons.
The red arrows indicate where I placed the false textures: In Figure One, the terminal is on a line one pixel in front
of the desk that the computer sits on. It's hard to tell, but
the arrow is showing 2 lines very close together. In Figure Two, the terminal is on a line one pixel in front of the wall. It's in the recess where a ~traditional~ terminal would be. It's hard to tell, but the arrow is showing 2 lines very close together. In Figure Three, the terminal is on a line in front of the Bob. I surrounded him so that the terminal could be activated from any side. |
